Cameron Brate: Winston Loves Football More Than Any Person I’ve Met

Cameron Brate filled a role this year that was left open when former Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins was cut for his second DUI charge. Brate, a Harvard product in only his second season, has come on strong developing chemistry with his quarterback Jameis Winston to haul in six touchdowns on the season. With the Buccaneers in a position to fight for a playoff berth, Winston has shown excellent development on the season as he has been able to grow the offense immensely.

“He just loves the game so much,” Brate said on CBS Sports Radio’s Doug Gottlieb show. “He loves football more than any person I’ve ever met in my life and it’s contagious. He’s definitely a goofy dude but that’s something I appreciate and guys follow him, he’s our leader.”

Tampa Bay has been incredibly hot as a team lately winning their last five games in a row pushing their record to 8-5 on the season. In those last five games, they have knocked off some of the most dangerous teams in the NFL such as the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks. Their defense has been on full display as well giving up only 10 points to the Chicago Bears, five points to the Seahawks and holding the offensive juggernaut New Orleans Saints to only 11 points. Sunday will present a big task for this team as they play the first place Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football and hope to make a big statement.

“We’re just approaching it like any other game but it’s kind of hard to look over the fact that it’s a Sunday Night Game,” said Brate. “It’s an opportunity that we haven’t had down here in Tampa Bay for a while. We understand the magnitude of this game not only playing on Sunday night but a win would be huge for us trying to get into the playoffs this year. We’re approaching this one like a playoff game, truly.”
