La Canfora: Problem For Patriots If They Go To Oakland

CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora joined The Doug Gottlieb Show on CBS Sports Radio to discuss a multitude of stories around the NFL. First off, after the Patriots 30-23 win on Monday over the Ravens, are they the clear AFC favorites?

“The problem for them is if they had to go to Oakland, if they had to go to the black hole, against a team that scores quickly and scores in bunches,” said La Canfora. “That’s the kind of matchup that would hurt them. “Among all the flawed teams, are they the least flawed…sure.”

Moving to Dallas, should Dak Prescott remain the starting QB or should Tony Romo get his job back?

“Any sort of sustained malaise was going to bring this back bubbling up,” La Canfora said. “For two weeks now, they have three offensive touchdowns total. I have them converting two times out of 29 on third down when Prescott had the ball in his hands. That’s a problem.

“Dak Prescott had this game. I do think that if this were to continue for a third week, then you consider it in Week 16 or 17 and then you have the bye and off you go. If Prescott plays like he did the first 11 weeks, this is all moot.”

Over to the west coast, where Jeff Fisher is no longer the Rams head coach. Who should the Rams be targeting as their next head coach?

“I think they’ll try and do something sexy like Harbaugh. I don’t think it’ll happen,” said La Canfora. “Everything I’ve heard, (Jon) Gruden is still probably a year or two away from considering. I don’t know. They’ll get the attention of the A-list guys who are going to get jobs…Josh McDaniels, Kyle Shanahan, some of the hot coordinators.”
