The Doug Gottlieb Show Weekly Rewind 11/30-12/4

BOOGER MCFARLAND – 11/30/15
SEC Network analyst

“Now LSU’s brass is forced to make a decision based on hey, ‘We don’t have our guy 100 percent, so do we fire Les Miles (without a high-profile backup in place)?’ I think they chose the lesser of two evils. The reason I say it that way is everybody was praising Les Miles . . . and (saying they were) happy Les was back, but the elephant that was in the room before the game is still there. That’s the fact that Les Miles’ offense has become old and antiquated. The quarterback development is not there and his ability to change with the 21st century and the 2015 SEC offenses is not there.”

JORDAN CANZERI – 11/30/15
Iowa running back

“They have a great four guys up front and their defense is just very physical and sound. We know that it’s going to be a battle. We know it’s going to be a grind. We know that it’s going to be a very physical game and that’s what’s expected. So far, we’ve started the week off with a great day of practice. We just have to continue that.”

A.J. GREEN – 12/1/15
Bengals wide receiver

“He won a lot of games for us. He won a lot of games for you. You’re going to fire him? I don’t see another coach being better than him and doing a better job.”

CLAY HELTON – 12/2/15
USC head coach

“I feel like I’ve interviewed for (this job) a couple times, to be honest with you, as the interim head coach of the Las Vegas Bowl two years ago and now seven games here this season. (I’ve) really shown exactly what I want to be as a head coach and the culture that we wanted to establish – the physical, hard-nose, blue-collar, gritty football team that believes in establishing a culture of winning, a culture of academics, a culture of compliance and a culture of respect. It’s something that they believe in, and I’m just very fortunate that they believe in me.”

TONY GONZALEZ – 12/2/15
CBS NFL Today analyst

“As far as Brock Osweiler goes, if I’m the Broncos – and this is just me, if I was the guy running the show down there, if I was Coach (Gary) Kubiak or John Elway – I would say a healthy Peyton Manning is the best bet for that team to go far and to win a Super Bowl. If he’s healthy. Now, if he can’t get back healthy, which all my inside sources say he’s on his way back to being healthy, then obviously yeah, you go with Osweiler. It’s kind of a no-brainer.”

JERRY WEST – 12/3/15
NBA Hall of Famer

“Most people just talk about his ability to shoot the ball from deep, and obviously (he’s) the best I’ve ever seen, particularly under duress. He gets a lot of attention where a lot of three-point shooters kind of run into three-point shots and have other people getting in the lane. He creates these shots for himself. I think the other thing that people don’t quite recognize about him is he’s a shot-maker on top of it.”
